These gorgeous, hand-made rugs are based on the world famous African-American quilts by the Gee's Bend Quilters of Alabama. Recently on exhibit at the De Young Museum in San Francisco, the quilts have been shown in fine art museums across the USA. Some of the quilts will be on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's "History Refused to Die" exhibit, running from May 22nd-September 23rd in NYC, and at Atlanta's High Museum in the "Outliers and American Vanguard Art" exhibit, which runs from June 24th-September 30th. The San Juan Island Museum of Art in Washington State will host "Conversations with Gee's Bend," a show featuring art inspired by the quilts, from May 25th-September 3rd.

The Souls Grown Deep Foundation has also donated Gee's Bend Quilts to the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Please check with these museums to learn when the quilts will be on display.

We have tried to be as faithful as possible to the original quilts in terms of color and design, but we have changed the proportions to create standard-sized rugs. The quilters receive a royalty for the use of their designs on our rugs. We are honored to work with these outstanding artists since 2002. Barbara Barran, President Classic Rug Collection, Inc.
